What in the world is that?
Mats has hit the age of questions asking the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Unfortunately, in the attempt to pique his interest and engage Mats with his surroundings at an early age, I would offen ask in an overly enthusiastic voice that only parents seem to have "Wat is dat, nou?" (or "what in the world is that?). Apparantly I went a little overboard, because even when enquiring about something as mundane as a button, he never asks "what is that?" but rather "What in the world is that????"
What's next? "Why is it time for lunch?" Or maybe we'll continue with the flair for the dramatic with "Why on earth is it time for lunch?!?!?"

Oh geeze... that's the beginning of the end... no more quite time... It will be a constant.. "waarom??" session from now on... Never mind the answer, whatever you say... you will get another "waarom?" and in the end you will get frustrated, since you have no idea what else to tell the kid...
Right now we are in the period of "wat zeg je??" and when our dear boy sees he is starting to irritate us with the question (seems he's deaf quite often) he will tell us, with a sad look on his face: "ik kan je niet horen..." argghhhh....
