Ready, set, GO!
There is nothing like "Een, twee, hopakee" (="Ready, set, GO!") to get a toddler to hurry up. A Pavlov reaction, when he hears "HOPAKEE!", Mats has been conditioned to: go down the slide after endless preparation, cross the street, get in his car seat, put on his shoes, eat a bite of broccoli, get his diaper changed - the applications or endless. When we were waiting on the tarmac at the Portland airport, Mats thought we had waited long enough, so he started yelling at the pilot (or anyone who would listen: "Een, twee, HOPAKEE!" Eventually they listened or we might have been the next parent and toddler refused passage (http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=local&id=5472927)
