ER visit #1

Mats fell at the acquarium today and hit his head on a table. Not a terribly bad cut, but he did need stitches, which miraculously only involves cleaning the wound and gluing it together nowadays (good luck to the doctor that would have actually had to use a needle and thread on my squirmy boy back in the day!). He has a classic "shiner", but at the end of the day, I think I'm more scarred from the experience than he will be.

I title this post with a #1 knowing that there are very likely to be many sequels. I'm afraid Mats has inherited his father's misconceived notion of indestructibility (just ask Joost about the scar all down his left arm if you don't know the story) and my clumsiness. It's a good thing that I have done some "market research" visiting three ERs in the past 2 months so that I am prepared for future visit:

St. Lukes - not unless both Joost and I are unconscience and the ambulance takes us there against our will
CPMC Davies Campus - great little hospital for the smaller incidences. In & out with really friendly nurses
UCSF - huge ER for the more complex mishap. Clean and sterile, but not very personable
