The perfect day

As Mats acts more and more the consummate two-year old, there are days where we secretly wish we could throw him out the window, or as Oma so endearingly says, wish we could stick him under the wallpaper for a while. But every once in a while, there comes a day of family bliss. Today was one of those days.

On this beautiful day, we met Mats' friend Chloe (and her parents) in Sausalito for the Spring Festival (what could be more exciting than looking at boats, and sharing a water bottle with your date (Chloe)? Can you say JUMPAROO! Actually, I don't know if that is what those big blow-up castle things are called, but whatever it's called, Mats learned the word "bounce" today, and boy did he bounce! I suspect he would have bounced all day if only his friend Chloe had joined him.

After Chloe went back home, Mats made a new friend - Chinook the Cockatoo. He apparently doesn't share his mother's mild aversion to birds. He fed that bird one seed at a time until its owner took it away to make a few bucks off the next tourist. We ended that day eating dinner on a patio overlooking the Bay and San Francisco thinking how lucky we are to live in Paradise.

We are all bound to have sweet dreams tonight. And chances are just as likely that tomorrow we'll be back to wishing for wallpaper for the little devil in a cute suit.
