Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Those of you with kids will understand when I say that Mats is in to EVERYTHING these days. Some of the most exciting things to play with (other than mom or dad's computers, cell phones and keys, of course): dad's shaving cream, the water spray bottle for ironing, and of course the water faucets. Childproofing? I laugh in your face! It has to be Mats-proof*. Sometimes, if Mats hasn't shown particular interest in an item, we get lazy. And so I left my makeup bag unzipped, but on top of a cabinet that should have been just out of his reach.

As I was cooking dinner, I heard a squeal of delight in the bathroom. Can't be good. Mats had moved his stool to reach the makeup, and had proceeded to put on foundation, powder, and mascara (not all in the places for which they were intended). Suffice it to say that all three products are formulated to stay on our sweaty faces for an entire day. Scrubbing a little demon who is thoroughly incenced because he's convinced that he looks "pretty"....not one of the easier mom-chores.

And the worst part: I didn't even think to take pictures for bribery when I can really use it in about 13 years.

*definition of Mats-proof: Whatever it takes to keep Mats out of whatever he's not supposed to be in. unfortunately this changes daily. For an example: the standard cabinet childproofing where you can open the door about an inch and then you depress a lever with your finger - worked for 1 day. We now have special locks that can only be opened with a magnet key. And yes, Mats understands that he needs the key, so woe be unto us if he ever manages to get his hands on the key.
