BIG day in the life of a little Dutchmen

Of course, every day is big when you are just 9 months old, but today was especially BIG. It started at 6 am with Mats' first soccer match - The Netherlands vs. Serbia/Montenegro, which was also Mats' introduction to the magic box called the TV (facinating!). Our friend Carlos joined us for the game (I guess some things are never too early to get up to enjoy), and after the game, gave Mats his first hair cut. It's pretty short, and he's looking ready for the military, but I don't think we ever would have gotten him to sit still enough for anything involving scissors. By the end of the day, Mats was impressing us with his physical prowess (he figured out that holding on to the coffee table, he can "cruise" around in circles), and his mental sharpness (after about an hour of trying to get Mats to say "Papa", I gave up and asked "where is Papa", and Mats pointed right at Joost). Pure genius, that boy is! And finally, we ended the day with his first taste of "Boerenkool"...and he likes it! He really is a Dutchboy after all. We'll have to start practicing with the finger in the dijk.
After all that, you won't be surprised to hear that Mats is now completely tuckered out and sleeping soundly, but what stories he can tell tomorrow at daycare!
